This is my blog where I can show you what I'm currently working on, usually a step by step process with photos, and what local events I am attending or have attended. Art is a process and a journey for me. Sometimes the artwork is detailed and sometimes it's messy. I feel as though I am still working out a personal style with my art. I've been known to create pieces with lots of texture and pieces that hardly show the brush detail. All in all, I know how I want my work to feel and it's different for each piece.

Shipwecked - December 2011

This painting was different and a slight challenge because I used burlap canvas instead of regular canvas. I applied two coats of gesso and had to shake some fine sand to help fill in the large pockets of the burlap. I really like the outcome and how it helped me to be more loose with my painting style. Yes, that was loose for me. I'm trying to play around with different texture styles and see how the effect works with my paintings. This painting was a gift to my brother.

2nd Biannual Plein Air Event 2011 in Suwanee GA - October 2011

This was a lot of fun and my first plein air painting too! I chose to paint at Sim's Lake Park. The painting took two days. Below is a picture of my station and all the supplies.
